Variety's Restaurant - North Canton

Great name for a restaurant that has a huge variety of food. There is certainly something for everyone with breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees. The salad bar was fresh, clean and well-attended. Soups were hot and tasted homemade from scratch. We didn’t have room for dessert but I’m sure that is good, too.

Very good salad bar, but no meat. Hard boiled eggs for protein, which are very good. Small variety but sufficient to make a great salad. Diner food. Breakfast all day. Popular with the locals. Most of the staff is friendly.

Two words: Salad Bar. This might be the last place in Stark County that still has an old fashioned salad bar. Has two different daily soups, rolls, and then a traditional salad bar with all the regular stuff you’d expect, plus cottage cheese, pudding, pears, pasta salad, etc. You get one trip with every meal, or you can buy it on your own. The actual meals are hit and miss for me. The lasagna, meatloaf and chicken fried steak were all winners for me. The stuffed pork chops and chicken scalopini were just alright. The decor is dated for sure, and the average age of customer is probably 75. Not that either of those things are bad, just adding that so you know what you’re getting. Desserts are also pretty legit. Same with their housemade sweet tea. Prices are actually really good considering all you get. For under $20 including tip, you can generally get enough for a meal there, and then a second at home if you take your leftovers with you.

Ate last week here and had the soup and salad bar. It was the best salad bar I have had in years. The salad makings were fresh and plentiful. The soups were bean and noodle. The bean soup was a vegetably soup with a good broth, similar to a minestrone soup without the noodles. The noodle had three different types of noodles in a rich broth. Salad bar even had pasta salad and potato salad. Great food. Liked it so much, had to go back today. Sandwiches and lunch items start about 11AM, but breakfast items are served all day.

I have eaten at varieties many times over the last months, and each visit has been a delight. The food is always fresh and tasty and the presentation never disappointing. The service is equally as impressive. My coffee cup has never been empty for all the visits at this location. I have rediscovered this restaurant after it has been renovated inside and I couldn’t be a more satisfied customer than what I am . But I certainly don’t want to leave out the unsung heroes, who are the cooks who prepare the food to perfection. Bravo to everyone.

I can’t say enough good about this hidden gem. My best friend and I were on a girls road trip and decided to stop here after going to the Umbrella Alley in Louisville. We were greeted and seated immediately. It’s a beautiful restaurant. Very clean. Michelle was our server and she went above and beyond for us. Everyone in there was so friendly. With the meals you get one trip to the soup and salad bar. Everything was fresh and it was around 5pm when we went. They play a wide variety of music. We got the Swiss Steak. It was unbelievably tender. No need for a knife. So much food. The prices were great. We will definitely stop in again. I would give this place an eleven out of ten.

Heard about this place from friends when we have visited and finally got to try it. Great dinner, salad and soup bar. Great homemade food and great service. Definitely not leaving hungry.
